I have a VW Golf GTD , circa 20,000 miles, currently experiencing judder symptomatic of warped disc, I had this issue with my last Golf too.

Ok so I'm going to replace the front two discs & pads, are there any better aftermarket options?

Many but what do you want from them? Are you after a higher quality, more reliable product? A performance product? A cheaper product?

Cheers, I'll research those suggestions, I still don't know how this can happen seemingly so readily, maybe a combination of my braking style & the weight of the diesel

Do you use the handbrake at all? Odd question I know, but often lumpy brakes are not warped discs and are pad deposits that build up due to poor brake use habits. This typically happens when people waiting in traffic sit on the brake pedal, especially after braking from higher speeds.

I do use the automatic handbrake , I did read some stuff suggesting it is pad deposits etc, not sure of the remedy for that other than a different pad type?

If you cool something rapidly, i.e spray or splash with water it can cause contraction/warping. You can exploit that to pop dents out of panels etc. On a brake disc though I doubt it'd do all that much.

Ahhh ok.

My Octavia VRS rear discs corroded really badly - had to have them changed @25k because they looked naff.

Fitted new Bosch discs and Pads - top notch.

I've heard complaints of excessive brake dust from brembo parts, but i've not had any personal experience of this.
