i've recently changed from my noisey 6800GT to my silent MX440 and notised that windows runs much faster.

sure, i get sucky FPS on games but the game levels load dead fast

it this because it has 64MB memory instead of 256 ?

who knows!

^^ I think your opening post is a little hard to understand but I think I get what you are saying.

---

When you put the lower spec graphics card in.. more often that not you turn the texture detail etc down. yes? So when you turn the detail down your comp has less processing to do, and less data to load. Hence, the game levels dont take so long to load.

Newer cards are capable of so much more, but as the detail increases and texture size increase it takes longer to get them off the HD and into memory.

Thats my understanding of it, anyway. :)

yeh thats what i was getting at, thanks for explaining it

In the game i used to play...the pvp was down to pc speed...there were people with 2x 7800gt's and raptors on raid and the lot but could hardly touch people running cards like gforce4 :D

on a similar topic, there was a lot of talk about HDR in day of defeat, looks great but reduces visibility to such an extent when moving from dark to light areas that many regular players have turned it off. that 300 quid was money well spent, lol.
