So this is coming out on Friday on PS4... hopefully, anyone else heard of it and interested in it.

It's like the Ultimate Turn based strategy game with added Japanese quirkyness. You can level up characters to 9999, level up skills and abilities. You can also go inside items and level them up. 100's of different characters and monsters to choose from. You can throw enemies and allies, team attacks, combos, and excessive animations.

Its got a Senate to pass bills, a cheat shop, a curry shop, and even ordinary shops. There's so many systems, your head would explode if you had to deal with them all at once, luckily you dont. You dont really need to deal with them till after completing the campaign.

The main campaign lasts about 40 hours which is usually humorous tongue in cheek and self aware. But that's a small percentage of the game the post game is where the real game starts and you start levelling, stats, items and abilities to beat the real bosses. It also has Prinny's.

The game is much improved on previous iterations. They've refined systems, so the grind is less(but Disgaea is mostly about the grind). The tutorials and UI explain things much better.

There's a Demo on PSN, if anyone is really curious and wants to try it out.

Tried 3 and 4, I really wanted to get into them but sadly couldn't as some of the stuff just absolutely baffled me. That and they were super grindy if you wanted to get anywhere post game.
Will no doubt have a weak attempt at this one when it drops in price. Can certainly see the appeal.

Yeah I completed the campaign in the first game, the story and characters were great in that, and did a little bit of the post. I played 4 but got fed up with the story and characters and systems halfway through the campaign.

They've got rid the of cam-pain hq in this one(I hated that), simplified it into squads. You also dont have to reincarnate your characters into the new classes. So no having to start from level 1 just to get the new class.

I only found out in the demo that side and back attacks do more damage and that it tells you how much damage your likely to do.

The grind is supposedly less, at least less annoying. There's also a quest shop which actually tells you how to unlock the classes now(and loads more of course). From what I noticed of the tutorials thing seem a lot less incomprehensible.

I'm gonna play it and see how far I can get, its a fun game to mess about with, like a sandbox turn based strategy game.

I loved this series when I was younger, along with La Pucelle, Makai Kingdom etc. However after playing Disgaea 3 on the Vita at launch I got kind of bored of the formula.

However, this is on my radar and I'm interested in trying the series out again after missing 4. if they have refined some of the systems it may help. I don't have the time or inclination to do post-game things like I did growing up though so I worry the campaign alone isn't interesting enough...as the games were always better post-game.

I'll probably pick it up soon-ish though...or at least rent it to see what I think first.
