Dishonored’s much-requested sequel is the subject of today’s super dubious Internet rumblings, with an E3 2014 reveal on the cards.

dishonored_2.jpg

According to an off-screen photo of a slide from some sort of presentation, Dishonored 2 will be fully revealed at E3 in June. The existence of the slide, should it be genuine, suggests it will be shown or discussed before the event, at least behind closed doors.

The slide carries the hashtag Darkness of Tyvia, which currently returns no results not connected to the alleged leak.

The image was first posted by AllGamesBeta, attributed to an anonymous, unverified email tip-off.

Take this with all the cynicism you should apply to unattributed images that just pop up on the Internet; it’s not hard to grab the Arkane and Bethesda logos, whack ‘em on a PowerPoint, and take a picture of your projector – while it is quite hard to get anything through Bethesda’s NDAs, and industry insiders have little to gain by leaking information.

E3 2014 will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Centre from June 10 through 12.

it's a totally new game, it isn't in the same city, but it might be the same period of time; i'm not sure, but from what i read it isn't in Dunwall.

it would be virtually impossible to go undetected if a guard is looking in your direction, or even off to one side, he'd see you instantly, both games are bad for this, but FC3 is the worst, because those guys are BLIND.

No it won't be. From the Dishonored Wiki

Tyvia is the northernmost island in the Empire of the Isles. Its terrain is harsh, and its climate is persistently cold. The cities of Tyvia include: Alexin, Caltan, Dabokva, Meya, Samara, Tamarak, and Yaro.

Culture

Tyvian culture is one that mixes survivalism and refinement. While Tyvia is cold and boasts a hostile ecosystem, its residents are known to be skilled in the culinary arts. In particular, Tyvian food--such as whale meats and fine wines--are exported all over the Empire, and are enjoyed by both commoners and nobles alike. Tyvian art--from architecture to fashion--has been described as "ornate and complex."[1]

The Isle of Tyvia suggests that the nation maintains a somewhat isolationist standing, claiming that "Tyvians are proud of their customs, food and history, and have little concern for the Isles to the south." However, the book also notes regular trade between the city of Caltan and the nation of Morley, which stand in close proximity.

It is also mentioned through the game, don't read if you haven't completed the game:

- Tyvia produces a fine red wine that can be found during various missions; for instance, Thaddeus Campbell attempts to assassinate Geoff Curnow with a poisoned glass of "Tyvian red."
- Tyvian poison was used to poison Corvo Attano.
- A particular type of bone charm is made in Tyvia, created from walrus tusks.
- There is a painting found in several locations throughout Dishonored of a whaling ship anchored on a large ice shelf. It is christened, "Tyvia."
- Anton Sokolov hails from Tyvia; the Heart alludes to his nationality when it states that he has the "manner of a Tyvian Swineherd," and guards express distrust for Sokolov due to him being a "foreigner."

Well, this is a bit embarrassing—in an apparent rehearsal for its Sunday E3 press conference, Bethesda accidentally broadcast a few minutes of conversation between Arkane Studios’ Raph Colantonio and members of Bethesda live on Twitch. The conversation also mentioned Harvey Smith, who co-directed 2012's Dishonored with Colantonio. Those who caught the Twitch broadcast live claimed that Dishonored 2 was mentioned during the brief unplanned livestream.

A snippet of the conversation uploaded to Youtube here (backup on Kotaku, if that link goes down) does indeed include Colatonio and Smith rehearsing for tomorrow’s press conference, but best as we can tell, Dishonored 2 is never explicitly mentioned. The word “honored” is mentioned about 45 seconds into the clip, but in the context of “honored to be here” rather than “Dishonored 2.”

It’s possible Dishonored 2 was mentioned elsewhere in the accidental broadcast, but we can’t say definitively that they were discussing Dishonored 2 based on the clip. Still, we can safely say that Arkane Studios’ Smith and Colantonio will be at Bethesda’s conference talking about a new game. That game being a sequel to the successful Dishonored seems like a smart bet.
