My Slimline Indesit IDL40 dishwasher has started to leak at the start of a cleaning cycle. The door seals themselves seem OK and I've given it all a good clean but it is still leaking. Without taking it apart its impossible to see where. As it is was here when we moved in and we didn't pay for it, plus the fact the cutlery basket is broken and the door handle is cracked, I've decided to buy a new one.

Looking online at Currys/AO/Argos it seems they vary in price quite a lot, but all seem to be the same energy rating,/water usage so I'm unsure what I should be choosing based on.

Has anyone bought a dishwasher lately? Recommend any makes/models? Anywhere else i should be looking at getting one other than Currys/Ao/Argos/John Lewis ?

We got a new Beko unit when we had our new kitchen fitted back in September, the first time we used it, it leaked due to how it had been fitted and the seal not sitting correctly letting steam escape. They fixed it the next day and replaced all the wood that water had touched.

I think if your buying budget then just get whats cheapest, they are like most white goods now practically throw away when they break

Only one thing I made sure we got last time was the tablet setting as we prefer the tablets, so this changes the cycles slightly to account for the fact you have a tablet being released rather than powder and rinse aid etc

Either spend decently and get something like Bosch or just buy cheap and throw away when it breaks out of warranty.

Whatever you choose make sure it's levelled properly when fitted as this is a major cause of leaks - if they're not level the door seals can be misaligned.

I've just bought a Bosch, getting fitted tomorrow but very well reviewed.

Slimline really shortens your options though.

We bought a John Lewis own-brand slimline dishwasher - it turned out to be a rebranded Bosch. Performed brilliantly but we needed a larger one when child no. 3 arrived.

Had no hesitation buying from John Lewis' brand again - particularly with their outstanding aftersales.
Full sized dishwasher is also a rebranded Bosch - but £200 cheaper than the equivalent model and with an extra year's warranty.

Yep, noticed that when I've looked at new and second hand, not that many Slimline variants. Bosch seems good, but they are the higher priced end units from what I have seen.

Just had a look on their website. Looks great, but they only do a slimline one as a integreated unit. We need freestanding as there is already a gap where the existing one is, thanks though.

I would be very wary of buying Bosch unless you can physically look inside it before you buy it.

There cheaper dishwashers now have a part plastic, part metal tank. The bottom is plastic the the upper metal part is bonded to it. You don't have to be a genius to work out what happens to that bond when hot water and detergent hits it.

As for a dishwasher leaking, they very rarely do. Check that the spray arms are rotating, if that stick facing the door water can swap the door and it runs out onto the floor. Also, spray arms split meaning the water again floods the door.

Bought an indesit slimline dishwasher a year or two back have to say i'd heard some horror stories about indesit but so far this dishwasher hasn't missed a beat and had no faults whatsoever, we bought from AO and have to say they where superb ordered it on a monday got it by the wednesday free of charge so cant argue with delivery speed or cost

You don't need to look inside it's listed in the specs on the website.
