Dishwasher is causing top items to not clean properly.
Particularly the edges/corners.

They come out with a gritty (probably dried food) residue. Particularly on the outside and top of glasses and mugs.

Ive cleaned the easy to access filter
Cleaned out the arms..

But this really feels like a top arm problem.
Like the top arm is either blocked or not pressured enough

Any ideas?

We've found recently that the teflon frying pans are leaving a residue on all the cutlery and dishes etc and when we fill a glass up with water there's a smell.

I'm not saying it's your teflon pans but maybe look at what's going in the wash. Another option is to run a rinse first once it's loaded up and then clean the filter.

Do you use any type of rinse aid or dishwasher salt ?

Salt yes.
Rinse aid no.

The pans aren't Teflon. And it's very localised residue

What make is your DW?

Hotpoint

I feel its a water pressure issue or something like that. Faulty pump?

So this appears to be working now (I think)

Unfortunately like the bad scientist I am I changed a number of things in one go.

Changed tablet brand.
Moved from eco to normal wash cycle.
Cleared arms
Make sure the top tray is firmly pushed back.
Water was hot.
Arms definitely spinning (checked mid cycle.

I believe when I first cleared the arms the tray may have dropped and caught on stuff. So I didn't think the arm clearing worked.

I also manually washed (eww) the baked on dirt off.

So in end it was probably mostly the arms being blocked with rice. (couple of holes )
I'll keep on 'normal' wash for a little while.

I still don't think it's quite as good as new but the silt seems to be going

Sorry I may have missed the part you were washing on Eco.

I started doing our washes overnight with Eco and after a few weeks the dishwasher stank and the wash whilst not leaving grit didn't clean great.

Went back to using the 30min 60 degree or 70 degree 2.5hr wash and no more smells and clean dishes again...I wonder if trying to save the planet is a false economy as you end up.washing more!

Ill try and go back to eco later. It has been years using it. But I'll give it a while on normal . The eco cycle is longer and cooler. But yea . It's probably just saving penises not pounds .

Final update.

Seems to be washing good as new (nearly)
I'm back on eco and make sure I use a normal or intense wash every now and again.

So seems like a full non invasive service was needed.
Glas don't have to buy replacement parts!
