Dishwasher not heating

My dishwasher seems to have stopped heating, the water always seems to be cold and it keeps flashing when it finishes. It also seemed to run all night the other night non stop rather than stopping automatically but hasn't done that since.

It's a built in dishwasher and I can't find any identifying marks on it so can't google for a user manual. Does anyone have any tips for either finding out what it is or how to start fault finding. I can post some pics if that'll help

Thanks

Sound like either the thermostat has gone or the heating element has gone - or water has got into the wiring loom somewhere. If you can find the model number you should be able to replace the thermostat, if its the heating element or the loom, then it'll probably be cheaper to replace the entire thing unless its still under warranty.

The element is easy enough to test if you can get it out. A continuity test will tell you whether it is good or bad.
Sadly the problem with these no name appliances is they are a bit of a pain when it comes to getting spares. We went through the same problem with the cooker that was here when we moved in. We just relied on a best guess to replace the element 3 times, and in the end it was cheaper just to call it a day.
If you can get hold of any sort of model number you could be in with a chance.

Most dishwashers will give you an error code of some sort if a component fails, they also tend to have thermistor rather than a thermo stat, they are pretty bomb proof.

If it completes the cycle you could be looking at the main PCB I am afraid.
