We're looking for a dishwasher for the normal daily stuff for two people. We were impressed by a slimline one at the house on holiday as it was small enough to do the daily chores but not be large enough to be 1/2 used all the time. We're considering a slimline so that we can effectively have a full-ish load for a low water usage.

So any suggestions?

That's the thing - we've done that for a 10+ years..

Looking at something like the Bosch series there's a interesting one that only uses 6 litres of water as it uses the dirty water from the wash before to remove the initial dirt.

That's also the reason for looking at a slimline so we're not under loading it for a wash.

Bosch must be liars then

No it's the ecosense model rather than the normal model that does the water reuse. I suspect they need more cleaning as the water sits around for a day... but it seems "active.." is the new name rather than ecosense..

Not to hijack a thread but...

...we're in the market for a dishwasher, and the missus has her heart set on one of the split models because she thinks it will be more economical to just use one half for all the baby stuff. The only thing I can see about them is you seem to be paying an awful lot more for the privilege..

Ahh the two draw ones - each draw using the same power/water as a full dishwasher.. Interesting reading when you read the tech specs and the reviews.

What is nice about those is that the glasses etc can be in one.. the really dirty pots, pans etc in the other. That way you can reduce/differ the chemicals needed on the glasses etc vs the pots and pans.

Just ordered a Bosch SMS69M22GB Series 6 full size (£429!). If we switch the washing machine around then we have space for the door to open without needing a slimline.
More expensive .. but having looked at them in person at the local electrical warehouse.. they've got some neat internal configurations along with 46dB, 6l etc. We both cook (me - I tend to creates lots of pots and pan mess) and she bakes etc so..

Over board for two perhaps but considering when friends visit it's 6+ people the eco and 1/2 load will do..

@platypus - ^^ this one has a hygiene mode where it increases temps for longer periods.

I dunno, I despise washing up by hand. The one odd item is okay but I like the fact with a dishwasher I can 'pile it up' so to speak.

I hate having my hand in the sink water with bits of food floating about.

The wife is quite a neat/clean person.. to the point she thinks she is a little obsessed. So no option to really leave things, not let things soak etc.

Although I'd probably hand wash the wine/beer glasses that are not your normal beakers/pints.

It's arrived :D

Now just have to move the washing machine (2 people job if you don't want the water pipes spilling everywhere), then do some plumbing in!

Over a week now, have to say I'm impressed.

Firstly - the cutlery tray is genius. The lower rack has so much more room for things plus things don't stick together. The adjustable movable shelves are great.
Secondly - its quiet and fast, even on eco + vario speed - typically an hour.

There's an odd effect it has on the kitchen space - it makes it look bigger and cleaner as the rack on the sink isn't sat there, the dirty things are hidden, so are the clean things.. hence you get counter space back.

We've settled into an every other day cycle. We're also cycling through the bits and bobs hence they all get used and cleaned.

We don't shove my anodised pans in, we tried it and one of the bases is now white/discoloured.. not a biggie but the standard pans are good plus the lids.
