Strange story this, can anyone please assist?
On boot up I get :
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK & PRESS ENTER.
The story.....
With my Windows XP Pro installation HD NOT connected, I fitted a new HD and into my machine and tried to install vista 64. I tried 3 times and got the BSOD. Looking at the stop message and the final message (nvstore.sys) I concluded that it was a faulty HD. After ringing OC they agreed this might be the problem and and I asked me to return it. As this was my first encounter with Vista, I thought Humm is it the HD or not. To confirm that it might be the HD that was duff, I tried a new install of of Windows XP onto it, but it would not format the HD, therefore confirming both of our suspicions. Remember all this time, my Windows XP Pro HD is NOT connected.
So I disconnect the faulty HD and connect up again my Windows XP Pro HD, remove the Windows XP Pro CD and boot the system, only to find that I get the message:
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK & PRESS ENTER.
As soon as I press enter, the system boots up.
I saw a thread recently on here with a similar problem. In my case the DVD drive is empty! Has anyone any ideas how to fix it. It is not a show stopper, as all I have to do is press the enter key, and anyway, I am going to migrate across to Vista 64 as soon as I get the new HD back from Overclockers. Any help would be appreciated.
Regards
