Disk Recovery Software

Anyone recommend me some? I dont mind paying for it if its good! (thats what HE said)

Promised my mum I'd see if I can recover her laptop hdd, so I have an external drive housing I'm going to use. Hopefully thatll work.

If the HDD is still accessable then (if not then you could try putting it into a plastic freezer bag then into the freezer for a number of hours):

Free: TestDisk, Recuva, PhotoRec

Paid for: GetDataBack, File Scavenger

What are the current symptoms of it? Does it power up? Is it just a case of failing to load Windows?

The programs above are for recovering deleted partitions/files. And are awesome tools for the job

R-Studio is also very good! Think This has to be purchased though.

The funny thing is, it wasn't even showing up in any computers.. or on my external hdd case but the minute after I posted this thread I tried it again and it showed up fine.. how very perculiar! I have all the stuff off it now and in a dropbox for my mum. Result!
