disk structure is corrupted and unreadable

Hi peeps.

In serious need of some help, Film was being watched from external HDD last night when it dropped out, was to tired to look it then so left it untill today. So logged into my Asus RT-N66U this morning and it wasnt being shown as mounted, rebooted and nothing changed. so unplugged the HDD and plugged it into the PC. Tried to get into it only to be shown 'disk structure is corrupted and unreadable' message come up. So tried scanning it for problems and i get 'The disk check could not be performed because windows can't access the disk'

Spent most of the day on the net looking for a solution to the problem and as of yet i haven't discovered a real fix. If any one can come up with a solution to this problem would be great, the only condition i have is not to loose the data as it holds all my films and tv programs on it.

That was my fear, thought i would ask too see if some one had a magical solution to it. Will wait a couple of days though until i resign my self to that fact, just in case there is a solution to which i doubt but a man can hope lol.

btw thanks for the help and the program it will get used a lot
