Hi guys,

From the repair console in windows xp, is it possible to do a defrag or a check disk? I've got a laptop which is taking about an hour to boot that I think will benifit from the above :)

Cheers!

You can't defrag but can check disk. The command to use is

chkdsk c: /r

Also run msconfig from Run within Windows and turn off everything loading on startup, excecpt antivirus.

Thanks mate! I'd have to get into windows first to try that... I want to try and repair the disk before I let the laptop boot fully on its own.

Yep worth doing a check disk, especially on a laptop as they get knocked about a bit. It can take sometime though.
