Disk Utility without install disc

Hello all,

Apparently my hard drive needs repairing and I have to use Disk Utility on the install disc. The problem is that disc is about 200 miles North at my parents

Anyone have any ideas for anything else? E.g. is there an option to burn a backup disc via OS X with disc utility on?

Check the section 'Use fsck if necessary' a little bit down the page above. Might help you out.
