hi guys just set up my 2 new crucial m4s 128gb ina raid 0 , everything working ok .....quick question .....i know that your not supposed to defrag a ssd drive ! but is the hyperfast software in diskeeper 2011 worth having ? or would i just be better off not bothering and just disable defrag for my ssds in windows ....thanks in advance

Diskeeper is most proberly the best hard drive defraging hd tool around bar none.

Whilst it is most prob no good for ssds, it would be invaluable for mechanical drives.

So if you are running a few mechanical drives, i do nto see a problem running diskeeper along with ssds, it is simple enough to turn it off for ssds.

Odd how most drives around the globe get by without it.

Hmmz get by you say(or are most using the inbuilt one ?), strugle and grind to a halt, or go so slow its like a 486, then complain "why is XXX taking so long to run, or why is my computer so slow......

Yes i guess your correct

Not many people know this but Microsoft actually used to license Diskeeper and ship it as part of the OS. I think since XP they wrote their own though.

By the time a PC is in that state, a defrag does very little to alleviate the issue.

Do you have any metrics on this or any conclusive tests carried out to directly link x% de-fragmentation to an x% performance degrade?

I don't use Diskeeper or any other third-party defraggers on any of my computers, and they all seem to be running just fine with none of the symptoms you describe.

How very odd...
