Hi, I dislocated my left shoulder 10 days ago, it was out of place for 6 hours, i am getting most of my movement back now, does anybody have any tips? How many people have done this, does it happen again?

Thanks Matthew

At the risk of this becoming a medical thread, I would STRONGLY advise you to see a physiotherapist.

Depending on the severity of the dislocation, there is a very good chance you have stretched pretty much everything in your rotator cuff meaning there is an even better chance of it popping out again.

My older brother did almost exactly the same thing two decades ago, and it took him nearly two years to get it back to what he claimed was 'normal'. It took a huge amount of rehab to do this, too.

Go see a physio. End of.

As said go see and decent physio and yes it's almost a certainty it'll now happen again especially as it was out of place for so long.
The best thing I found to help reduce the risk of it happening again was to get in the gym and make sure I done some good shoulder work to help strengthen it all and touch wood I'm coming up to 2 years without it dislocating again. Obviously don't do this until you've given it a good while to heal as it's all soft tissue it'll take a while.
