As the title suggests, has anyone successfully dismantled an A12x25mm or even an A12x15mm fan? How hard is it to do? (don't care about voiding)

The reason why i'm asking is like many of you, the fans colour choice is a bit like the love/hate relationship with Marmite, you either love it or you hate it. Whilst i have a few of these fans in my inventory and will be adding them to my next build, i plan to use Rit dye to change the colours of the frame and fan blades.

I know people in the past have tried with success and some failures, the fans tested were more focussed on the F12 and P12 range. I've heard dismantling the F12 was near impossible without breaking due to the center of the fan being molded around the motor from both sides.. but that was 4 years ago, and i'm sure technology in the fan department has changed much by then.

I'd rather find out from someone who has done this already with success/failure than to botch a sub £30 fan to find out otherwise.

Thanks

Take the sticker off and see what's holdin the fan on,could be a circlip if site be very careful taking it off as they tend to fly off.
Saying the just key the fan body and blade with fine grit sandpaper then mask off the cable and spray with the colour of your choice.

well thats awkward.. looks liek Noctua have made it impossible to dismantle.. previous versions, i've not seem the middle look like this

Just buy the black Redux or the even faster black 2000rpm models.

P.S would advise PWM even if using on 3pin header as they have a far lower starting RPM, the 3pins fans will not start or will start but stop at low RPM.

Why take it apart?

ha.. would have gone for that route, but my intentions were to repray/dye the frame one colour and the fins another.

Luckily the A12x25 i ordered (elsewhere) is returnable (i'm just within the return preiod phew), so will get these replaced with a black variant, but the A12x15 i have can't be RMA'ed.... having said that, the black versions of those 15mm are cheaper than i expected, so will buy a couple of those

That `plug` in the centre may be removable with a pin or needle
I have done this in the past(not with that fan though)to add a drop of oil or grease :)

Too late to test.. managed to send all fans back for a refund and purchased the black a12x15 and arctic p12 as a temp replacement but good to know nevertheless
