Dispelling A Myth.

First computer was a Atari ST Format. Then I inherited my dads 1200 with 30mb of HD space when he bought his 286. Wow Power. Fond memories playing carrier command into the wee hours.

My favourite games that I can remember were one where you were a weird bouncing space ball thing...

Wizball, utter madness :D

Beat it once, by using 2 joysticks and controlling the Wiz and his cat at the same time. I roxor :p

Anyone else remember these little beauts ?

I do indeed, a C64 was my first computer.
The one you've just bought seems to be the "newer" sleek case design, the original models were chunkier. In fact, my first ever bit of case modding was to swap the guts out from my C64 and fit them into a kit case that was modelled on the newer design.

If I had known of your fetish, your could have had my A500 and A1200 along with hundreds of games; binned the lot a few months ago, including a scsi hard drive that cost me something like £400 for 540mb! ................ they were all in good nick too.

Ah well, sorry mate! hope you have fun with what you have got though.

I still have nightmares of my younger days playing Barbarian I + II on the c64. Scared the hell outta me, especially with the decapitation action!

Chuckie Egg

omg memories, talking of plastic keyboards the speccy was best for Decathlon as you could use a golf ball to roll over the 2 keys for uber speed, unbeatable speed! then moved on to the spec+ with proper keyboard and solder in the extra memory yourself!! lol what a weekend that was. I followed that up with an Amiga 1200. All that stuff was just thrown away, i truly hate myself for it now. They were classic times. I will have to show my kids Chuckie they will rofl!!!!i'm sure and refuse to pay it no doubt, oh well more time for me! :D

There are rumours that I wallow in a 1980s time warp but I would like to dispel that myth by showing you a recent purchase off e-bay.

A Commodore 64 with a mind blowing 64k of RAM, fast cassette loading and quality games such as Parallax and Spyhunter. ( shown ) It was one of my first computers .... in the 1980s

£32 very well spent. :) Amiga next.

Anyone else remember these little beauts ?
Ah memories!
You need to get a TV now that's from the same era!
I never had a C64, although I did get to use one occasionally. I actually stsarted out using my sisters ZX Spectrum + (which I think my dad bought from Rumbelows - there's a name I haven't heard for a few years!), which ended up being mine, and then my mum and dad bought me a Spectrum +3 a few years later. I couldn't be parted from it, so much so, 16 or so years later I've still got it and all the games and magazines in a box up in the loft!

I do remember a Commodore game I used to play round one of my mates when I was in middle school, although I can't remember if the computer was a C64 or a Commodore Plus 4. I think the name of the game was called "Up, Up and Away". Anyone remember it? :D

We have a member on here who has every major console since the Pong console and I sold him my Mattel Intellivision and Colecovision. He also builds MAME arcade machines.

I've got a fair few but not as many as that! The member must need a fair bit of space for that lot?
I was going to make a Mame machine myself but plumped for a Jamma cabinet and boards in the end. I'm still looking into it though, I have actually bought a JPac and an ArcadeVGA card but still can't make up my mind whether or not to go ahead with it! :o :D
