Display Adapters disappeared in Device Manager

As title really,

Using Dell Inspiron 6000, I can't inistall the latest Catalyst for the ATi x300. Using fresh install of XP.

Have you tried add/remove programs?

EDIT- Thought you said uninstall, doh!

Might sound stupid but did dell supply a driver cd with it?

Cant really understand why you're having trouble installing the drivers. Have you tried the Omega drivers?

Do you have anything in device manager with a (!) beside it?
