I encountered the problem about 3-4 weeks ago while playing a game. During that time my system wasn't activated and the graphic cards were not updated. The problem only occured when games were set to their highest settings. However, about a week ago now Virgin Media installed a broadband package and I've updated my graphic cards and activated my system. Now the problem occours when ever I play a game even on the lowest settings the game crashes, the monitor goes off for a few seconds, then it goes to the blue screen and reboots. Whenever the system reboots in this manner it will continue to do so with a normal start up and won't stop until it is running on safe mode.

Re-updateing the cards doesn't appear to resolve the soloution, can I fix the problem myself or will I need to return my PC to OCUK?

Welcome :)

This error is generally caused by one of two things. Either your GPU is getting too hot or it's overclocked to high. To start with, could you list your system specs. Have you tried monitoring the GPU temps with something such as Evga Precision?

I used to get that issue a lot back when vista was new on an 8800gtx. After numerous updates it eventually stopped happening. There used to be massive threads on the nvidia forum about it.

Wonder if Xientie sorted this out? I get this nviddmkm Stopped Responding and Has Recovered message too, but only playing Far Cry 2. Lowered the detail to the point where it's truely awful to look at, including a resolution of 1024x768 and it plays great! :(
So then I go load up CoD MM2 maxed out or Crysis with the AA ramped up and there's no problem. For Gods sake why just be funny with one damn game, why not them all! :)

@ BinnsY
Yeah, uninstalled 191s(?) today then used DriveCleaner to get rid of any bits, then installed the new drivers (195s). Didn't help, infact I got booted to the desktop a lot sooner when trying to play on high settings again. I googled the nviddmkm message and got nowhere- I mean people on various forums have been blaming everything from overheating GFX cards to underpowered PSU, some solutions are working, whilst others aren't.

@gurusan. I got it BEFORE the 195 drivers. And the drivers before that - the original ones which came with the card.
Will you try turning the detail down for five mins to see if it helps Gurusan? Maybe all the AA & shadows, that is if you've been playing Far Cry 2, I guess some people have had probs with other games too.

Have you tried playing with each video card individually to rule out one of them being faulty?

Typically a big cause of this issue was asus P5 motherboards with RAM speeds over 667MHz - but that doesn't seem to be the case for either of you.

it's happening to me in CoD4 and Demigod. I even just tried downclocking to 700MHz but that's not helping, i don't think it's a hardware problem as it only started since I reinstalled win7 and installed the 195.62 drivers.

Same here then a driver update sorted it, I would recommend to the guys getting it either update it to the newest drivers or roll back to a previous one

OK well I think you were right Rroff right in regards to unstable memory as I've changed my clocks from 1800MHz CL7 to 1500MHz CL6 and it seems fine now. thanks

p45 sucks at ddr3 :(

Think I'm stuck with it. Although my rig was bought overclocked, I know nothing about over/underclocking memory/GFX cards. At least it only happens in Far Cry 2, some poor people have been having probs with everything. I've a good mind to post pics in the Hi Res screenshot thread of how ugly you can make the game (FC2) look! :)
