I play bfc2 for 20 mins fine with my 5970. when i start to browse the net. after about 10 minutes, the screen get all these funny square colours, then freezes for 3 seconds. then a message comes up saying,

DISPLAY DRIVER STOPED RESPONDING AND HAS RECOVERD. then the screen stays black, but can still use the pc kind of.

It's not clocked, and have uninstalled, reinstalled. get samething.

Anyone know what this could be ?

Cheers.

sounds to me like vpu recovery is kicking in sorta but your drivers are failing to recover hence a black screen.

could be a heat issue. what are your gpu temps like?

Before you load BC2 turn the fan speed up to 80%.

Yes I know is loud, but even the 5770 has heating issues. They go all way to 75C and crash.

Since then I created a profile and using it and had no issues whatsoever with my 2x5770.

Even the single one I have now, has the same issue. (thought it could be because of the xfire heating up).
However I do use a Logitech G35 so, the fan sound isn't an issue :D

Happened on 2 out 3 of my 5770's sent them back for RMA, i belive is something to do with powerplay/memory timeings. my last 5770 and both my 5870 dont suffer

So would i have to RMA it then.
How would i fix this.

I took my dads 5970 to test it, and that's fine. :(
Maybe i'll swoop his for mine lol

If it keeps happening, i'll have to RMA it.
Knowing my luck, it wont happen when they test it lol.
Temps are fine.

Cheers

what OS you running?

I get these but I know why, just cause 2 likes SP2 on vista if you even try to alt tab out or use xfire it crashes

I know its a different game but BFBC2 might be in the same boat

still failling that, isnt there a fix for the powerplay in the form of BIOS flashing/editing

It sounds like a duff card the onscreen artifacts are usually symptomatic of that, just to be absolutely sure you should reset any overclocks on both CPU & graphics card and if it still does it then it looks like an RMA is in order.

It could be a weak power supply but impossible to tell without testing.
