Hi, for quite some time now I've a problem that is starting to do my head in and would be grateful for any help on the matter.

When I visit certain sites my display will flicker and 9/10 turn itself off. I than have to press Alt + F4 to close the browser and then the display turns itself back on. This site for example: (http://www.xbox.com/en-gb/xbox-one/accessories/controllers/elite-wireless-controller) I can not view as my screen flashes and goes off. I have updated flash player, I have tried enabling and disabling hardware acceleration and have downloaded microsoft silverlight. This issue also happens on youtube when videos auto switch the quality settings and entering full screen although the display doesn't turn off it just flickers.

I am using windows 10 but had this problem when using windows 7. I have tried multiple browsers all with same result.

HDD: Samsung 850 EVO (120GB)
MOBO: Asus Maximus VII Gene
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K
CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H100i
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro (16GB)
GPU: Zotac GTX 980 Ti
PSU: Corsair Builder Series CXM 750W

I have all of my drivers up to date.

Have you double checked all connections to GPU and Monitor are secure and tight? Tried different cables?

Have you tried uninstalling Nvidia drivers and reinstalling selecting "Perform a clean installation" to rule out some bad settings?

Just completely uninstalled drivers and cleaned. Reinstalled and still the same. Tried using the new Edge browser with windows 10 and everything works....

Must have something to do with firefox/chrome because these sites don't seem to want to work with them :$

The fact you also had the same problem with 7 and previous GPU drivers suggest the problem lies somewhere else.

Can you take your GPU out, and see if it's fine with the Intel IGP? Your 980Ti could be slightly faulty or it's another hardware causing it.

Here is a random theory. Your GFX is faulty.

A few years back I bought a GTX470 from OcUK. Great playing games but for some reason I was getting crashes on desktop. It turned out to be that the RAM on the GFX was faulty and not dumping '2D Mode' graphics (mainly desktop UI and websites) correctly, but 3D graphics were fine.

Could it be possible that your GFX has a similar fault when rendering some 3D elements? That link in your OP has a 3D controller rotating, might be the cause? Could you try disabling the CSS and all graphical elemeents on the site and seeing if you can then go onto it? Then enable it when it has loaded to see if the issue happens?

Edge could be using hardware acceleration in a way it doesn't cause the crash to pop up. Either it taxes the GPU enough to force it to 3D clocks, or it hardly uses any at all.

Had a break through (kind of) I have learnt that If I start firefox in safe mode everything is A ok but if using the brower normally it's broken again. The odd thing is that if I uninstall firefox and do a clean install it does it again. So I can browse websites smoothly in Edge browser or firefox safe mode up to now. This is weird...
