hi all,

I currently have a 19" Lg tft monitor, and a separate 21" crt tv. I want to have 1 display screen and am just wondering what the best way to do this is?

I am thinking about a widescreen at least 24", but unsure as to whether to get a HDTV 26" with integrated freeview for around £300 or get the 24" sammy on this weeks offer http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-054-SA and a digital tuner card for my PC for around £400 in total.

I use both TV and PC (for gaming) pretty equally, so dont really want to compromise on resolution.

Cheers for advice

Was just about to ask the same question myself.

I would like to plug the monitor straight into a co-axial cable as well as the PC.

Would like to have 5ms or less to prevent ghosting and for it to be Region 1 and 2 compatible.

My limited understanding tells me that the 24" Sammy will have a higher native resolution than the HDTV.

The HDTV will still be good though for games from the PC.

Depends if youd prefer a larger screen or sacrificing a couple of inches for a higher resolution when gaming.

The only issue maybe if you were to get Sky HD in the future or something similiar.. can you get a TV Tuner/Capture card with Component/HDMI input? I would assume so.

Maybe someone who actually knows what they are talking about can reply :)

If you don't need a high res, i.e. photoediting, DTP, modelling all that kind of stuff, and you mostly use your PC for gaming then definately get the HDTV. Go for 32 inch if possible but 26 is nice too. These are absolutey fine for web browsing, file management, and gaming.

If you need the higher res, then you're probably better off with a 24 LCD panel.

My mate has a LCD TV that runs at 1368x768 (i think) and his PC is setup under it with the screen setup like a TV would be. Wireless mouse and keyboard means he can sit back and game, watch movies, tv everything from a comfy armchair.

It's definately better, more social if friends come round etc. But remember only 768 high. Try it out on your current setup 104x768 or 1368x768 to see if you can live with that for the tasks you do.

Racing games are awesome, they fill your vision :)

Text is 100% readable. It's literally just like a big PC LCD screen. I'm sure there's pics in various threads of people with LCD tvs beside 'normal' screens.
