Ok basically I have a HD4870x2 2gb Saphire card which I removed the standard cooler and placed the full EZ Waterblock which had been running for 4-5 months no problems with lovely temps at max around 40c.
Now I recently attended the I36 LAN and when I got there I set it all up and opened the case for signs of leaks etc (due to transporting on a trolley) but all was dry so powered it up into Windows 7 Beta.
All lovely and no problems. Ctrl & L to go to login screen and then went off and left it for like 15 mins or so.
Then I came back logged in and straight to desktop all looked ok, but then i saw strange glitch graphics on icons etc and i though hmm maybe need a reboot but before I had chance to it rebooted itself.
Now when it comes up I have lines all over the screen vertical and horizontal and although i can see it booting up the screen is all glitched I have checked inside the case and again no signs of leaks?
So I tried my mates 8800 GTS in there and worked fine (obviously had to install drivers) but when i put my card back in the same line and glitches came back. So this obviously pointed it back to the card being at fault.
So I took off my water block inspected it and i saw nothing so cleaned all the thermal paste off and then re-installed the factory fitted cooling and still the same glitches and lines...
Any Ideas as to firstly why all of a sudden and what could be the problem?
I contacted my supplier and it has to be collected and sent off to sapphire to ether repair it or replace it which can take up to 10 days
Now I have put it all back together but will sapphire notice that I originally had a water block on it as will they use this to get out of repairing it ?
I am annoyed obbviously as its not one of the cheaper cards to own and after putting the stock cooler back on boy did i notice the heat out of that thing the whole card was blistering hot (the original reason I had water cooled it)
Any suggestions on what may be the problem and what you think my chances are with Sapphire ?
Many Thanks for reading
