Hello,
OK first off I have this;
Ryzen 5 1600
350m Mobo
GT 1030 Video card
8gb RAM

The card has a DVI and HDMI outlet
The Mobo has VGA, DVI and HDMI outlet

But when I plug a monitor into the VGA port in the mobo it doesnt seem to work

I have a drawing tablet that i plug into the card and I want to plug the monitor in too, but the monitor only has a VGA port.

Is it becuase the Ryzen 5 has no integrated graphics? Can I not run any displays from the mobo, or can i get the card to do it somehow?

Thanks for any help

Maybe I can use the drawing tablet in the HDMI and buy an adaptor VGA-DVI? and use both slots in the vidoe card?

Just seems weird i cant use it through the mobo, maybe i just nee to do somthing..

Also, another quick question lol, I have a modular PSU and although the mobo has 8 pins for the CPU power i only have a 4 pin cable, but i read it works so long as you are not into OC (which im not) But really should I get an 8 pin? i worry the CPU might not have enough power.. although it works.

OK, many thanks for any help

The Ryzen does not have a builtin GFX core that is why there is no display, the display ports on the Ryzen boards are for the soon to be released APUs (CPU+GFX core)

Ah right thank you, OK now at least I know I need to buy an adaptor, at least I think you can get a VGA to DVI convertor? Or a cable?

Or I plug tablet into DVI and get a VGA to HDMI adaptor?

If the card only gives out DVI-D then you cant convert that into VGA.

If the card has DVI-I then you can, as the analog signal is there.

I actually have an old VGA to DVI adaptor an MSI one, but for some reason it wont fit in the card so i cant use it, the wide prong seems too long for the slot on the card and there are extra little prongs in the adaptor too, nowhere for them to go into the card..... confusing, are the different types of DVI then or somthing?

The adaptor fits fine on my 680, but not the new 1030
