Hi all. So I finished my build last night

3770k
Z77 sabertooth
2 x 128gb Samsung 830 in raid 0
2 x gtx 670 sli
1000w psu
Custom water loop
16gn corsair vengeance ram

Now when i install windows, my monitor is plugged into the hdmi slot on the first gtx670. The display works, but it is the usual low res display. Now after I have done windows update, I come to installing the driver supplied by evga on the disk. I go through all the install steps and then am prompted to restart. Upon restart the windows loading screen appears and then the monitor goes dark.

After a system restore I can get back into the computer.

I have installed the latest driver from Nvidia and also the beta driver and still no luck.

Is this a driver problem or card? I've googled this but have not found any clear cut answers. I hope you guys can help.

:D

You dont need to system restore, start up in VGA mode (f8 when booting before windows logo) thus if its a resoloution issue you can fix, you are chasing your tail installing drivers then running system restore. You need the driver on there then you need to configure it.

If no joy in VGA mode try other connections like DVI, try both cards too. If still no joy go to 1 card and try again. Process of elimination thats all i doubt its anything other than a software config issue

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to reinstall widows when I get home and start again. I was thinking about disabling a card and trying them both seperately??

Is VGA mode safe mode?

I did download the latest aswel, still didn't work. I'm going to start from scratch I think. It's frustrating tho! Spent over £2500 on a system and now this! Grrrr

Maybe just me but I find the DVI to be the easiest. No difference in pic quality, so if you have a DVI cable, plug that in and try again.

Think it's a dodgy gpu! One card boots fine on its own. The other card is jus distorted starlit straight from the off. Got into the bios and it honestly looked like I was looking at the matrix!! Green lines everywhere! Got to be a dodgy card surely?

Could well be a DOA. If you have 2 of the same cards and 1 is not working the same as the other, return it.
