Display 'on this day' events from Google Cal?

To assist with social media posts, is there a simple way of hooking up G Sheets to G Cal to display full day events from previous years?

So date at top, next 5 rows below get populated with any full-day events from last 5 years.

Look at Google App Scripts (for Sheets, https://developers.google.com/apps-script/guides/sheets) and pull the data using the Calendar API (App Script example, https://developers.google.com/calendar/quickstart/apps-script).
