First off, not too sure where to place this really, Monitors/Graphics/General, so mods feel free to move it as you wish.

My issue is that recently my display output will not do as it's told :p.

I have my Asus monitor hooked up to a 280x with DVi connector and a HDMI outputting to my Samsung TV. Regardless of what I try to do, the monitor is always screen 2, with the TV obviously now screen 1. This in itself is not an issue but it becomes one when I turn off my TV, I immediately lose output to my monitor, which changes to the extended desktop, although it is not set as the extended, the TV is the extended desktop.

I have tried various different configurations but to no avail. Currently I have them as "duplicate these displays", with both displays been a normal desktop. However if I turn my TV off now, my monitor once again becomes the extended display.

Have just tried (again) the "extend these displays" option but still the Asus monitor becomes the extended desktop once I power off my TV.

I know the screenshot above shows the settings through the Windows option but if I use AMD CCC it makes no difference. Am I just missing something simple here ?

Please shout out your ideas and I will gladly try them and shout back at you.

Just for clarity, I don't really need the desktop extended, as the only time I use this is when using XBMC and a certain repository that no longer works ;). So I would be more than happy just to have them duplicated, as all I want to do really is now play my music collection through my TV setup (5.1 surround) but obviously want my Asus monitor working when the TV is off too

I have done that but it still switches off. As you can see on the screenshot, it says the Asus is my main display.
