Hi all,

I have a problem with my pc that started a week or so ago. Basically when I leave my computer for a few hours and come back the screen wont resume. The computer is still working. My Emby server is running in the background. But I have to do a hard reset on computer and then the monitor powers up again.

My specs are
2500k 4.5Ghz
Gigabyte z68 ud3p
970 gtx connected with display port to a philips gsync monitor

Hi guys,

thanks for the replies. I have tried putting everything back to stock and it still fails. I can recreate the problem faster by going into sleep mode. Normally I have my computer on all of the time. I'll try the other ports but the problem is my monitor only works on display port as it's a G-sync monitor. So I can try another screen.

I also tried another display port cable and the same problem!

I did install the creators update at around the same time as the problems started and I have updated to the latest Nvidia drivers. I used DDU uninstaller as well to get rid of any remnants of a previous install.

UPDATE

I tried the 970 with hdmi and the same problem :(

So I thought I could try another card I had lying around. I installed an AMD 5450. Low and behold the same problem! So at least I know it's not the card. So it is related to something else.

Yea I have the latest bios available for the board U1G. I have discovered the the computer is not running in the background. So when I put the computer to sleep it won't wake up. The computer powers up and the fans spin etc.

I may have made some progress. I removed fast boot and put the os option in bios back to default from the selected win 8 and now the computer sleeps.

I think I spoke too soon. The problem is still there :( Maybe it might be time to finally upgrade this rig!

Right.... So I seemed to have cured the problem for now by re-installing windows 10. I just did the built in re-install which maintained my files. And all is well again. Now I have to setup my overclock again and hope it doesn't break everything again. If I'm honest I have never really been a fan of this motherboard from the start (it suffered from the dreaded coldboot issue in earliear bios revisions).
