which is the best to use and why ....i have a monitor the hp lp2475w it has a display port on it....not sure if it came with the cable though ill have to look..

They will be exactly the same as eachother unless your monitor can do 10bit colour and your graphics card can output 10bit colour, and looking at your sig, it says you have a 4890, which doesn't do DP natively and therefore you will see no benefit in using DP.

In fact, you can't use DP at all with your 4890 if it's a reference one.

does the dell 3008wfp 30" have 10-bit colour? i've read that display port is the way to go if possible, over DVI, in general. i have a PowerColor 5850 which apparently does have displayport. not sure if it does 10-bit colour though.

any ideas?
