My new computer has a VGA, DVI and HDMI port but my existing monitor has a VGA DVI and Display Port. At the moment I have connected them with the VGA cable. Is there any advantage in buying a Display Port to HDMI adaptor and connecting them with a HDMI cable? Will I see any difference?

I apparently cannot get HDMI to DP. All cables and adaptors I have found are the other way round DP to HDMI and are not bi directional. It looks like a DVI cable is the best option? No need to carry audio as I have speakers set up and I don't think the monitor has speakers anyway.
