Display port to dvi adaptor not giving 144hz after installing zotac 1080ti

I have just purchased a zotac 1080 ti blower edition and it doesn't have a dvi output.

So I've used the Display port to dvi adaptor that came with the card and now I only get a max of 60hz in the Nvidia/Windows 10 display settings.

I had a GTX 970 before and had no problems with that as it had a dvi output.

My monitor is an Asus VG278HE

Can you guys please help me out?

you will need an active display port to dvi adapter. inactive ones just dont do that sort of bandwidth.
 
Pretty much lol, you need dual link DVI for that kind of bandwidth and there's no cheap way around it :p
 
It should do, as im sure HDMI 1.4 can do 144Hz at 1080p

EDIT: Yup, just checked, HDMI 1.3 or higher cable.

To output 1080p content at 144Hz, you will need either a dual-link DVI, a DisplayPort, or an HDMI 1.3 or higher cable.

1080p at 120Hz, then, would fit within even HDMI 1.4b's 340MHz pixel clock (1920 * 1080 = 2.07 million * 120 = 248 million pixels per second). There's more to it than that, though, and HDMI 1.4b simultaneously supports and does not support 1920x1080 at 120Hz. It supports the 120Hz 1080p throughput only for 3D processing, which it does by cloning the data packet for concurrent output to the display device. For 2D viewing – which is what almost all gamers mean when they want “120Hz” – HDMI 1.4b is stuck at just 60Hz for 1080p. This is commonly misunderstood in the HDMI 1.4b spec language.
