Looking at a lot of recent gfx cards it's mix of Displayport, HDMI and D- Dvi ports.
I have 3 screens at the minute and my current card uses 2 x mini display port and one dual Dvi to run in eyefinity.
The cards I'm looking at are possibly 3 x Display port but also have D- Dvi.
Which would be the strongest connection?
I'm thinking 3 x Displayport but if a Dvi is as good, I would only need to buy 2 Displayport cables.

You can get Displayport cables with DVI/HDMI/VGA connectors on the end for connecting to older monitors or TVs (though newer cards don't tend to support the VGA ones anymore so an active adaptor is usually required for that, not that it's relevant to you I just mentioned it for completeness).

So all you really need is three Displayport connectors, or two and a HDMI (you can get HDMI to DVI cables and vice versa).

*EDIT*

If you're asking which is the best not what you need on a card, then it's:

Displayport > HDMI = DVI* >>>>> VGA

(HDMI and DVI are pretty equal for monitors but HDMI is better for a TV as they have added to the standard).

This is what I was looking for, I basically meant if there were 3 Displayports on a new card, would it be more beneficial for me to buy 3 Displayport cables or would 2 Displayport and my existing dual Dvi be ok.
Thanks

just make sure if you have a high hz monitors you get the right adapters as the basic ones wont supply 120hz/144hz.they are pretty expensive.

Well my 3 screens run great from 60 - 144Hz just fine using the cables I listed above from OCUK. Project Cars 2 maxed out on 3 screens @144Hz hitting 80 - 120FPS at a res of 6000 x 1080 whilst eating my included Haribo!
Well pleased!!
