could someone please spec me a cable for my new monitor?

At the moment I have a 1060 Zotac mini 6gb and I have just bought a new monitor

(Will be moving up to 1070 once pricing settles down)

AOC G2790PX 27" 144 Hz Full HD Free-Sync Gaming Monitor
  • Full HD Resolution 1920 x 1080
  • 1 ms Response Time
  • AMD Free-Sync
  • 3 Sided Frameless Deisgn
  • 16:9 Aspect Ratio
  • HDMI VGA DisplayPort Connectivity
  • Speakers
  • Height Adjustable
  • Contrast Ratio 20000000:1

Would I be ok staying with my hdmi or better going with a DP cable?

I so could someone spec me one please?

I know about hdmi cable versions etc but do not know anything about DP

Thanks

I'm not aware of different DP standards like there is with HDMI. Either way you'll not get the 144Hz if you use HDMI.

Did you not get a DP cable in the box with the monitor?

I’m not sure it’s not arrived yet but it doesn’t mention on the website any box contents

I’ve done a little reading up and I’ve only noticed version 1.2 but been reading on another thread here that it as to be a certified cable? As if you get a non Certified cable people have been having trouble with the freesync not working.

That monitor only has HDMI 1.4 so you'll need Displayport for the higher refresh rates.

Ok so definitely looks like I’m going to use DP then.

What’s a good one to get? Just as longs it’s certifed i should be ok? I only need a 1m cable

I had big problems with DP cables trying to run 4K @60 Hz on a 3m cable and basically had to splurge on the very best, but that was 4+ years ago. I'll have to look up my cable brand later. You should be okay on a 1m cable

thanks, all help appreciated, thats what i thought as well being such a short cable i should be ok but dont want to keep buying things to try find a good one

Ok thanks I’ll go look it up and get one bought up,

Is there anything I will have to do to “setup” my monitor when I comes to get the best out of it? I’m moving up from just a pretty standard monitor.
