Display problem since going HD

Ive just got me a nvidia 260 gpu and went and got a hdmi cable. Since installing, ive noticed the letters etc on screen have gone rough looking or unsmoothed if you know what i mean. Im on vista and have a syncmaster 2494hm.
Please help to get it sorted for me

Its already set to clear type. This has only happened since installing the hdmi cable

Vista isnt seeing the monitor drivers. Its just saying generic monitor. Could this be something to do with it. Ive tried reinstalling the drivers but it just shows the same

How do i adjust the clear type?
