Hi Guys new poster so be gentle ;)
Recently bought PS3

Am a bit confused about graphics/display as people say there isnt much difference between 360 & ps3 in games but there seems to be on mine as an example, had fifa 12 on 360 ,display in game was bright and clear but the ps3 is blurry & darker especially players is this normal ?
The XMB dash area on ps is fine its just games
Both consoles are connected by hdmi and ive checked the settings on the tv are both at 1080p
Any ideas or am i being to fussy :D

most of the games on ps3 are in 720p
gt5 is the only game i have which is display in 1080p on my tv.
i've go demo of fifa 12 and it is in 720p.
xbox version just looks better

Just rendering differences between the two chipsets.

PS generally renders darker than 360 in cross platform games.

e.g.

Each console uses a different graphics API along with having hardware from different manufacturers. PS3 primarily uses Playstation Graphics Library (PSGL) with a nVidia graphics chipset. 360 uses DirectX (hence Xbox) with a ATi (now AMD) graphics chipset. While similar in abilities things will look slightly different between them from gamma levels to shaders.

I forget what the option is called, but have you checked the setting for full or limited rgb output? Might make the difference depending on your display.

forgetting graphics just for a second, the Xbox 360 does have better IQ than the PS3. I have a PS3 but also had an xbox for a year and there was a difference. It was the same on the PC. I had an nvidia 7600gt and then had an ATI x1950 which are both the same generations as each of the consoles have. the x1950 (similar to Xbox) had much better IQ than the nvidia 7-series (PS3), not something I had thought about at all prior to buying it.

Does you TV hold seperate video settings for each HDMI port? Mine does. Maybe you set-up the xbox in the past and forgot about it and now the PS3's video settings are all default which is usually pretty bad for most TVs. I find enabling "HDMI - full" in the PS3 settings to be quite a bit better than HDMI - limited, although there are mixed opinions on this. My plasma seems much more sensitive to this than my old LCD was

have you tried changing the settings in the system menus of the 360/ps3, both have a setting for colour levels when connected via HDMI.

One thing i found was i had to change the Sharpness level on the TV PS3 now looks crisp clear etc, but i always find the 360 still has a slight blur effect to it even on the menus.

PS3 always has been known to be darker by default for some reason, just need to adjust the TV to the level you feel happy with - then most game will also let you adjust the settings in the game aswell.

boys to be honest next gens are right behind the corner,I build myself pc, cos launch price for consoles are going to be expensive,no second hand games which sucks.
connect my dual shock controller to pc and playing in 1920x1200 which better graphic.
can't wait for darksiders 2,few £ cheaper than ps3 version
