Display resolution stuck at 1280 x 1024

Not sure if this is the right section but I have just got my new monitor up and running but I cannot change the res from 1280 x 1024.

System XP sp3
Video driver is NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT (have latest driver)

The card should be capable of supporting 1920 x 1200 and indeed it is noted as 1920 x 1200 (native) in the NVIDIA control panel but I cannot change it up or down from 1280 x 1024. I did a quick web search and this seems a fairly common problem but I could not find a definite fix. Has anyone got any idea what is going on?

BTW the same thing happened with my old CRT I could not change the res up or down.

Try a different driver set. Could also be a duff card/cable but much more likely to be software.

I have un-installed the drivers in safe mode and re-installed the latest NVIDIA driver, and U2410 driver and it is now stuck in 640 x 480 !!!!
