For some reason i cant get my monitors to both display at 1680 by 1050 together

I can get 1 to display at 1680 by 1050 but the other monitor max is 1600 x 1200

both monitors are GNR monitors 22" TFT not 100% sure on the models but if i swap them around on my gfx card 1 the other1 will work fine at 1680 but the 1 that used to wont it goes to some lower res.

In display settings Monitor 1 comes up with Display : 1. TS2200WA and monitor 2 comes up with Generic Non-pnp Monitor I have never installed any drivers for both monitors and when i try to it wont let me just comes back with generic or non generic.

Its hard to use to monitors with diff res's - I have a ATI 5850 gfx card and both monitors are running on VGA cables to DVI converters..

Any ideas? I used the Windows software and the ATI software and also Ultra Mon but with the ATI software and Ultra mon it shows the right res to set it up as but when i do that monitor 2 goes black for 15 seconds like it cant handle the res but swap it over to the other dvi port and it can fine! so the monitors can do it.

Also i have had this working 2 months ago and took my pc to my mates and only used 1 monitor. come back and it just wont work.

hope someone can help.
Thanks
Dave

Forgot to mention when i use ultra mon and change it to 1680 by 1050 it just always puts it at 1600 x 1200 which makes windows look really bad and blury

Check the DVI to VGA connectors, I have a few that don't have all of the pins in them on the DVI end.

Hi

I had the same issue but with different set-up. One of my systems is running 2XHD (DVI + HDMI) and the other 1XHD + 1xVGA

Firstly win 7 would not detect the 2nd monitor, but I found that if I attached the 2nd while win 7 was running then restarted win 7 the 2nd monitor was detected. Then set the resolution like this

My set-up is 2X22" HD monitors (Iilyama + DGM) and this is what I did (it worked for me) though I suspect you may have already tried this so sorry if this is a bit lame

If you right click the desktop you get a "screen resolution" tab in the menu (3rd from btm). Click this then on the pop up - first click which monitor to set then click advanced settings. Then click "List all modes" - choose which modes for each monitor - when you test a new settings don't forget to "accept it" before the 15 secs is over or it will revert back. Then (this was the most important bit for me at least) - click "apply" then "OK" not just "OK".

Then (assuming you've got it installed) run ATI catalyst software - find desktop properties and check that (in my case it was 1920X1080@60Hz) the setting are indeed set.

I use "Actual window Manager" to set the backgrounds and send one window to the other screen, have the task bar on both screens etc (like Ultramon but I prefer AWM) and made sure the res/colour/refresh was all set up.

Hey presto I have 2 separate systems both running win7 with 2Xmonitors connected via network and inputdirector with no issues.

Hope this helps a little

Good luck!
