Hi folks.

I need to source two 50 inch screens to use as displays, on for around 10h/day.
1080p is fine.

I wanted to just get TV's and use them but the signage guys say we should get a 'commercial screen'.

Problem is they want 599ex vat for one (around 720).
Oh they wanted 199ex vat to install TV's (already have brackets in place so this is ludicrous)

The way I see it, 2*360quid TVs from someone that does 5y warranty would cost half and do a good job with the added warranty.

What do I do.?

(Ps..this will be used as a calling screen in healthcare settings, indoors; and also to display service information).

As someone who manages a Digital Signage estate for a large QSR chain, buy the commercial displays.

Philips or Iiyama are quite good at the low-end, else you've got LG or Samsung at the high-end.

Likewise, we work with some Digital Signage projects now. Go for commercial if you want any lifetime and less headaches.

Interested in this and others opinions of what software and screens they're running? I've got "Signage Live" running across 4 sites with 10 screens in total, again convinced by the reseller to get commercial LG screens, so far after a year or so they're doing ok running 24/7 with midnight reboots.

While the cheaper hardware may well be identical, I'd assume a standard 5 year warranty for a consumer TV would have some wording which excludes commercial use.
