Displaying a particular category from a WordPress blog in another WordPress blog?

Wasn't sure how to search for this, somebody point me in the right direction if I'm missing something obvious.

Is there a way for me to create a separate WP blog - that is, different theme, sidebar content and such - but use the articles from another blog that I have directly. In a sense, the equivalent of just clicking on the category on the master blog and seeing everything under that name?

That make sense?

Maybe alter the configuration files so they share the same databases?

Unless theme details and things like that are in the database, too.

This is what I wondered, but I think it likes to have its own database for everything. Hmm, maybe I'll have to think of another way...

What about creating a cron job and somehow merging data from one database to another?

Hmm. Sounds more complex than I was intending. Might just have to be another site completely.
