i can see plenty of mini displayport to vga on the bay, all seem to be apple though, mind pointing me in the right direction?

I just got the last XFX 5970 for £499, got my monitors just needs this cable now

Ye i have seen them but they are the wrong ones. You need to find ones with 3 wires. You saw the link i posted ?

i saw the one in the vid above yes, it has a usb cable as well as the DVI and DP

I would ask in the thread I posted before u go spending £70 on an active adapter. Personally I would try mini DP-> VGA for about £15.

is the flickering to do with the downclocking though

Dont think so as it happens in game and desktop, just seems to be random, could be the card so I will buy one of the cheapy VGA adapters to test with at some point in the next month.

I'm using a DVI>VGA adapter that cost about £30 delivered as far as I can remember. Works fine most of the time but I sometimes get a link error when the PC sleeps and wakens again.

I use the Sapphire active one but that was before I realised you dont need it - see here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18140392&highlight=cheap+run

I get flickering with mine so I'm tempted to try the passive fix.

I have already posted in the linked thread, mine cost 19.95 works a treat.
