I plugged in a HDMI cable and that is displaying fine (though only 50Hz option is available). When I remove the DP cable and plug it back in I can hear the 'bing-bing-bong' of it being recognized by the OS but no picture is displayed (when selecting DP as source). There was a power cut last night though my monitor was off and I think my PC was off too.

I use both DP and HDMI sources for having my home machine and work laptop switchable.

I'm about to update my GPU drivers though I don't think this will help - any ideas?

It's working again...

I installed the newest 'game-ready drivers' and opted to remove existing configurations. It didn't get a picture over DP initially but then I removed the HDMI cable (which is how it was pre-fault and subsequent problem finding) and it magically displayed the DP connection at 120Hz again.

The HDMI option is still only 50 Hz - I assume it's an older HDMI cable.

Not sure what caused this but it's fixed :)

you may inadvertently selected a display setting outside of the monitor's spec. I've done it many of time myself. Not sure if there is an easier way but I sorted by booting in safe mode and re selecting safe display settings then boot up as normal.
