Displayport Issue

Hi all,

Asking for a friend...

A buddy of mine just built a new Ryzen system.

Gigabyte X570 Gaming X
Ryzen 3700X
Gigabyte RTX 2080 Windforce
Asus ROG Swift PG279QZ Monitor

Among other parts...

I've been helping him configure it, remotely. But he's run into a problem with getting displayport working. He's been using HDMI, which works fine, but when he plugs the displayport cable in he gets 'no signal'. Not just in windows, but cannot even see the BIOS on cold-boot. Does anyone have any good troubleshooting tips for this? Or perhaps seen the same issue?

TY

Tried a different Display Port cable?
Checked there's nothing on the card? Give a can of air a quick spray over the card just in case something is shorting something out. I had a card that refused to show as well on the Display Port until I dislodged the offending piece of trash that was causing a short near the connection.
Check the monitor DP port is working (and functional), by getting another GPU or another system and connect to it.
If all the above works, there's a possibility it's your GPU DP that's with the fault.

I've advised that he get another cable to test with, I don't think he has another system to try the monitor with though. Or another monitor to test the cable/GPU with. I'll ask him if he has a friend nearby to him to try that. He's across the pond from me, or I'd help myself.
