Displayport Link Failure???

Im trying to get 3 x 24" (2x ST2410 1x S2409W) Dells setup.

Ive got the S2409W in the centre connected via DVI to an Active Displayport (not mini).
ST2410 on the left via HDMI and the ST2410 on the right via DVI.

I can get the two ST2410's to work but the centre connected via the displayport doesnt work. CCC shows it as enabled, and working but there is no output on the screen. If i enable it i get the "Displayport Link Failure" message...

Any ideas?

Its an Active Displayport adapter - Bizlink KS10008

Ive got all three screens working now but the max grouped resolution is 2400 x 600

I booted the pc up with just the Displayport adaptor on the centre screen and it said that the input timing was wrong and i should set it to 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz which i couldnt do because i couldnt see what i was doing! Something's telling me either this adaptor is duff or im being a tard.

Edit: Basically seems that whatever screen i use via the adaptor will only go upto 800 x 600 thus reducing the max grouped resolution to 2400 x 600. Any reasons why it wont let me go higher??

If its not 800 x 600 before you get get into windows then its the driver that has failed.
I have the same adapter since 04/06/2010 and have had that about 3 times after BSOD because of OCing.

Get rid of your eyefinity group, uninstall the drivers reboot and shut down the PSU, only have the S2409W connected boot up and reinstall the drivers.

So its nothing wrong with my set-up then? Ie ive got compatible monitors and the correct cables, adapters and graphics card?? Why does it have to be this ****ing hard ffs.

I assume i cant just extend the desktop on both outer screens?

Yes you can, but you got to fix the issue with the one screen first.
I get the feeling that its not a fresh OS install and you went from less screens to 3 Eyefinity and something got carried over.

OK well I un-installed the drivers. Switched off, unplugged. Got the ST2410 connected via the DVI to Displayport adapter (the S2409W gave a message about the input display timings not working :S) Anyway booted up and it worked ok, installed the latest AMD drivers and restarted. When it booted up after that I get as far as the Windows Is loading screen, just as your about to see the log in screen the monitor goes into power save mode and I get a black screen :S

Help??

Connect the rest and see what happens.

Well the other two screens came on when i plugged them in. CCC is showing that the screen connected via Displayport is working, running at 1920 but the screen is still in power save mode.

Not really sure where to go from here, how do so many people run triple monitor set-ups without these stupid problems. I specifically bought this PC for a triple screen display so i need to get this fixed. Is it a Dell problem, broken adaptor, crap drivers or just a AMD not doing there job?

So the Displayport adapter is not working right with any of the monitors ?

Correct, but it works when I don't have drivers installed (with a max res of 1400 x 900) :S It doesnt make sense because the adaptor clearly works...driver issue then maybe??

You said you could not see what your doing ?

If because the res was to small with CCC on it, then drag CCC to another monitor that you can see all of it then try setting the res.

And do your monitors come with Monitor drivers that help with EDID.

Sorry that was when the S2409W was connected which gave the dell message about the timing not being supported or something.

To be honest im not sure, but il have a look on google and see. What does EDID do exactly?

Got this info from the Dell site regarding the ST*10 range

"You can install the monitor in any Plug and Play-compatible system. The monitor automatically provides the computer system with its Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) using Display Data Channel (DDC) protocols so that the system can configure itself and optimize the monitor settings. If required, the user can select different settings, but in most cases monitor installation is automatic."

They had drivers but it was just the original release anyway :(

I would not worry about the EDID as its in the Monitor already but sometimes drivers have some info as well.

Hmmmm, what would you suggest next because im out of ideas. Other than forking out for another adaptor which i'd rather not do because i think this is working :S

Well i would try how you first had it setup and see if you can get the 1080 @ 60Hz selected, its seems to me that its trying the run at a Hz that is not supported.
But make sure CCC is on a screen that is not going to go into sleep mode.

That is the best adaptor there is.
