DisplayPort PCI Card Query

The DisplayPorts are inputs, so you connect your GPU output to the input and the card then passes the signal out of the USB-C. The idea being you then only need one USB-C coming up to your desk assuming you have a USB-C monitor you can then daisy chain other stuff from there.

I think this card only works on Asus boards though.

From the manual:

"
links graphics output from motherboard’s or discrete graphics card’s
DisplayPort to the mini DisplayPort IN port on the ThunderboltEX
4 card
"

As above it basically multiplexes/daisy chains your existing integrated or discrete GPU output.

I don't think it is strictly Asus motherboards only, unless there is some software lock, but it is only certified to work on Asus boards - on other brands you might not get proper operation.
