I'm on my 2nd adapter now, 4k 60hz compatible & i'm getting pink screen errors all over the place.

How hard is it to get one which just works?

Can anyone recommend one please? :)

99% sure its 8bit. Will have to check later.

Is there any other tests I can do similar to the 444 test images on the net but for lead bandwidth etc?

To get proper 444 chroma on any LG OLED you need to set the input to 'PC'

I am, it passes the tests when using HDMI direct.

The Lindy part does not say anything about the chipset it uses, the working club 3d, and others use Parade PS176.
[Personally fell out with Lindy technical support on a sata connector they sold me that seemed wrongly wired ]

I will have to try the Club3D one then

you mean it only works for you at 30hz ? or, Lindy have told you their spec, which suggests it does do 60Hz is wrong ?

it is specced at 4k 60hz 444, i only get 30hz. when HDMI is on its own, I get 60hz 444

Could maybe still be hdmi lead that is inadequate, if the quality of the hdmi output circuitry on the Lindy is inferior to the other device where you checked out cable.

? i dont understand

There is another brand UPTab , which seems to use same chip as club3d,
fwiw also seems the chip would allow dp1.3 on input, so future proofed.

cool, thanks

It would also be interesting to know if these devices can ever fail because there is inadequate current available from the source to drive the active device

my lead is only 2m, current should be fine?

A tech from Lindy just emailed back, asking if i'm with Nvidia, as they have received a lot of complaints recently from people using nVidia cards! I wonder what that is about.... something to do with the new 10 series?

To use Vive, your computer must meet the following minimum system requirements.

GPU: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 970, AMD Radeon™ R9 290 equivalent or better
CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-4590/AMD FX™ 8350 equivalent or better
RAM: 4 GB or more
Video output: HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2 or newer

ive got a 1080! DP 1.4

I assumed the OP wants to connect his card to a 4k TV as well as his Vive, which is why he is trying to make another HDMI connection from the display port.

If the adapters worked then he could just use one of the extra display ports. But they don't. So only a 2x HDMI out graphics card will meet the OP's needs. Or am I just making it up? Why do you NEED another HDMI? I'm assuming 4k TV but could be wrong.

No idea about the Vive but if the OP doesn't need an extra HMDI the thread is moot anyway :p

Thread isnt moot, why are my £35 worth of adapters all POS and now I need another one. This world is going crazy I tell you.

Have you looked on the back of the link box ;) :p

I was looking at the front thinking you've gone mad :D

Ok, so i didnt see the mini-dp port on the vive link box. Before I buy a mini-dp to dp 1.4 lead or adapter Is there anything I need to know about these before I get one?

I honestly didnt know people sell leads that dont meet the spec they say on the tin

Well it is when you don't actually need a DP > HDMI adapter for displaying 4k60hz (the thread title!). Thats a challenging thing to find.

Mini DP to DP isn't hard :p

Glad you got it sorted.

I'm blaming it on all the 'dont worry about expensive cables' stuff I keep reading everywhere - this one from techradar:

'(on 4k....)This is because if your cables can handle 1080p then they’re what’s known as ‘high-speed’ HDMI cables, as opposed to ‘standard-speed’ HDMI cables which can only handle up to 1080i signals.

Don’t go buying a load of expensive HDMI cables, it’s not worth your time, and it’s definitely not worth your money. '

etc etc ad infinitum

but yeah, thanks. I wont have to be scratching my head so much now

We don't know, thats the point. Is it the graphics drivers or the new HDMI standards especially for 4k + HDR being skimped on in manufacturing adapters? Either way they are problematic the cause not being know until they're fully fixed or new ones are designed.

I think the OP has this resolved now so i'm gonna bow out, just continuing a non-argument :p

Yeah thanks for everyones help.
