Me again
My MSi B850 Gaming Plus WIFI motherboard doesn't have a HDMI port, it only had a DisplayPort.
I don't have a GPU to try in it and my monitor is oldish and only had a DVi and a VGA port.
I purchased a DisplayPort to DVi cable and that works fine with my monitor.
I also purchased a DisplayPort to HDMi adaptor to connect it to my TV, I've tried this today and it seems that my resolution is limited to 640x480 when I use it.
My TV is a 43inch but I've had it since about 2012, my laptop has a HDMi port and when I connect that to the TV, the resolution is fine.
So am left with these thoughts...
The DP to HDMi adaptor - is cheap and may be the problem?
The TV being over 10 years old - may be the problem?
I don't mind buying a dearer adaptor, just thought it might be worth asking on here to see if anyone else has had the same problem, at some point I want to buy a new monitor and probably a GPU.
I have a 2022 TV in the bedroom but it's wall mounted with a fiddly bracket, I might try the HDMi adaptor with that when it cools down later to see if that confirms or rules out the TV.
