DisplayPort to Mini-DisplayPort

Hi all, looking to get a new laptop and 4k monitor for work.

The monitor has a HDMI and DisplayPort and the laptop has a HDMI and Mini DisplayPort.

What do I need to do to have 4k on the monitor from the laptop?

Would HDMI to HDMI work?

Or would I need to get some sort of adapter for to connect the DisplayPorts?

You can get a mini DP to DP cable.
