Hi, I've been having a bit of a nightmare with my pc. It started with my displays going black for a second or two and then they recovered. This got a bit annoying so I decided to do fresh install of windows because it was due and I thought it would help. But now when I play games after about 10 minute my screen's go black and i hear the windows restart sound after a little bit but the screen's are still black until I turn off my pc. My initial thought is it's the Gpu, but I'd like to be sure before I replace it.

Likely GPU, or something else in PC, because monitor shouldn't be able to cause crash in any situation.
What components you have?

evga 780 ti
I7 4790K @4.4GHZ
Gigabyte Z97x gaming gt motherboard
16 gb of ram
It's weird i can run stress tests and everything seems fine, I've tested the ram that seems okay. but when i play WOW or Path of exile for 10-30 mins it crashes... i have the windows mini dump file I'm not sure if that will help?
Update. I ran heaven for 15 minutes and it crashed, i could still hear sound but the screens had gone off.

The driver \Driver\nvlddmkm failed to load for the device PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_100A&SUBSYS_28843842&REV_A1\6&1f8ace63&0&00880008.

Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered. this is the most common error.

Just ran furmark for 17 minutes, no crashes.

Plug that into Google and you will likely find it refers to Nvidia. But how are you testing the RAM? Try running Prime95.

I ran memtest. everything seemed okay, I've tried running games with one stick at a time. Will try prime95 now

Ran prime on blend for just over an hour temps were high but no problems overall.

lastest crash playing wow, the fan's in the gpu went ballistic. does this mean it's the gpu causing all these problems?

Quite probably. I am guessing that the GPU is overheating. So check that all the fans are working. Do this visually - don't rely on the sensors.

Yeah they're working I also cleaned all the dust out the other day. When I monitor my GPU temps while gaming it's showing 55- 71 degrees isn't this about normal?

update, when i decrease the power limit to 85% on msi afterbuner the problem goes away. Does this mean it could be the psu?
