dissapearing column in outlook xp

had a problem at work today that no one seemed to have a fix for.

basically a user has access to a shared mailbox that he is the owner of. he has granted access to a group of users that can add a custom field in outlook xp called "dealer" (this basically shows who is currently dealing with a particular email)

the problem is once the user has created this field and then leaves that mailbox to look at the personal mailbox for example, and then go back to the shared mailbox the custom field has disapeared ?? :eek:

as far as i am aware once the custom field has been created it shouldnt go anywhere unless you remove it.

we have resnapped the users outlook profile, local profile and server profile and also ran a detect and repair on office xp.

user has logged onto a different machine in the office and its still the same.

yet all the other users (about 15) can add the custom field and it doesnt dissapear!!

any ideas or suggestions on this???
