Just finished building a half new build of parts from OCUK (800quids worth) and honestly i'm a bit disappointed with it and disappointed with OCUK too :(

1) The case is too noisy. Far too noisy, and in comparrison to my 8 year old Lian Li. The steel constuction doesnt come close to brushed Aluminium :( Wish i'd gone for the PC6

2) The USB 3.0 Header on the Mobo doesnt connect to the 2 male USB 3.0 connectors on the case. Thanks Corsair for not providing the £10 connector and thanks OCUK for not informing me that I would need one :(

3) The Mobo only has 6 SATA ports, once Ive connected up my raid SSDs, HDD, DVD drive and Spare SATA port drive on top, that leaves me with 1 spare space. Wish i'd got the motherboard up with 8 ports instead of 6.

4) The H60Pump comes with 4 nasty screws that don't really fit through from the back of the case through the rad properly.

Sounds like a big long moan but it's a £130 case and a £60 CPU cooler. Shame on Corsair for not thinking this through. Give me back my Lian Li :(

On the plus side, atleast its all nicely cable tidied inside and the components are being nicely cooled.

I don't what you expected, you swapped a Lian Li for a Corsair so of course its not going to look or feel as good - Lian Li = Premium Brand Corsair = Enthusiast brand. Corsair uses steel to keep costs down so it load its cases up with lots of features like USB 3, rubber grommeted cut out holes, removable drive trays etc.

"OcUK Forums members who have been registered for over 12 months and made at least 100 posts" :o (free postage)

Corsair say at the time internal USB3 headers were not to the quality that they wanted. FYI, Lian Li still mainly use USB3 passout cables.

the 650D is corsairs budget enthusiast case.
you get a LOT for £130. the quality is very good and it is certainly a lot sturdier than any Lian Li case available.

It seems from your post that you were expecting high end features that are not present in some of the most premium cases on the market today.

the USB3 10pin connector is not really a necessity, the design of most usb3 ready cases allows you to pass the internal usb3 cables out of a grommet at the back and into the USB3 ports on your board.

if you wish to use an internal one then you can, as you stated use an adaptor. However we are starting to see some manufacturers standardise the 10 pin cable as an internal connection.

remember that USB3 is still a young technology and is far from being a computing standard yet. Apple still don't even use it!

for what its worth, I would imagine that corsair will eventually bring out a USB3 addition for your case [you could email them and find out, they are very customer service orientated]

without wishing to sound condescending, as it is totally not meant that way, a corsair case and a lian li case is like comparing chalk and cheese. but it also sounds like you didn't find out the specifics of the case before ordering.

It would be cool to see some pictures of your build though as it sounds like you have a really nice system :)

its the case i been looking at, but most the reviews state that the newest cases are quiet but by no means silent and the first revision had problems with the fan noise. The mobo choice would come down to choosing the right board as you said the problem is that the board you selected didnt give you enough sata ports but OCUK show pictures of the board or a quick check on any review site they normally have a lot of pictures. The usb3.0 is advised you need to pass it out the back of the case and then in to the connectors on the back imo not a big problem as usb3.0 becomes more common the products or adaptors needed will drop in price or become standard.

post some pics up as im sure the good points out way the bad points :)

appears to me that A. you did not do enough research before shelling out money and B. blame Ocuk for it.

totally unfair and unjustified.

sound's like you didn't do your homework before spending £800.

cant see any of the issues you raised is ocuk fault to be honest.

Just use a SATA splitter and stop bitching. Just sell your current case and buy a different one or use some sound deadening.

OCUK have been awesome with me, I bought a power supply, graphics card and a new hard drive from them, can't wait till I qualify for free postage

This. There's no reason to rip on OCUK about this. What you're describing aren;t problems with anything in particular. You even say in your post "I wish I went for......." therefore it's not a problem product, just a poor choice on your part.

Quite agree with the other's. If you checked reviews and manufacturers websites you would have known about all of the things you are whinging about.

Two of the things u complain about have nothing to do with the 650D, however the other two can be overcome, so there isn't really any problem :P

Not sure why you are disappointed with OCUK. I can understand that you are disappointed with your build because it is not as good as you expected it to be. The first 3 points you made are problems that you would have know about with some research. luckily though there are fixes available for all the problems

1. Corsair released a fix for the fan problem.
2. Connectors are available.
3. You could get a PCI Sata controller if you decide you need the extra ports.
4. not sure about the screw problem but a quick trip to B&Q could be an easy fix ?

Guys, the 650D has totally caused his motherboard to only have 6 SATA ports. The 650D stole them and held them to ransom.

If I was in your exact situation, where you buy all of your components (without too much research it seems) and experienced what you have, Id be a little peeved. Yes.

But really, you wouldn't have experienced this if you had figured out your requirements, researched your components and bought accordingly.

yes points taken. I was just a bit peeved last night at 10 after spending 4 hours putting it together and finding I wasn't very happy. I have no one to blame but myself for a few of the points but still, I would like to have seen what is only a £1 cable (for corsair) thrown in and perhaps a few more ports on the mobo for £100. It doesn't even have an i1394 port. I didn't do my homework it seems. I am happy with the build - it just hasn't turned out as good as I thought. Money again, id have bought the PC6 Li case, a normal cooler, and the GD65 mobo but Ill live with this setup for sure.
